In a moment of lunacy a few weeks ago I signed myself and my husband up for a marathon this October.

I'm now holding myself to a strict training schedule out of sheer terror. This morning I'm heading out for my first 6+ mile (10 k) run since last fall. Wish me luck!

Poor guy. Glad that was all that was hurt. The meds probably made it feel better, so he forgot about it.

Eek! Good luck with that...

Thanks! Yesterday's run went ok, despite it being very humid out (and me not used to that yet).

Ugh, yeah. When I was in Washington during the summer that was awful. Is it anywhere near as humid where you are now?

How's the running going, Tolkienfan?

I got permission to go back to school and get a diploma in guiding talented kids. School says that as it is in their own interest, they'll even pay some of the fees. Yay!

So I completely forgot that the "Misquote the person above you" thread existed. Good times, good times.

I've noticed that it's a very inflammatory thread, though.

I've been getting some good laughs with that thread. Especially the questioning of our sanity bit lol

It's going well! I went for another long run on Saturday and it felt really good It helps that I get to run right along the Mississippi river the whole way.

That's awesome that you're going back to school! (and getting paid for it!) What kind of guidance will you be learning to do? Will you be teaching upper-level classes, or more along the lines of helping them with career/further education opportunities?

No, I will help talented students (alongside teaching, that will still be my main job) when they have problems, but also with fully developing their talents. I will also help my colleagues deal with these talented students. And I suppose I will have to talk to the parents too. Perhaps I'll learn to appreciate parents a bit more if I meet with them in a different capacity.

Good on you with the running bit!

They can do that, don't they. Look like they are oh-so-wounded-so-pity-me, and the next day they're zooming around like nothing happened. Mine came home last month limping left front and back-paw, freaking me out. Testing all his bones and since he didn't filet me on the spot, decided he probably would be okay. And you know, he was pestering the other cat the next morning like always. Never did learn what he had gotten up to to get injured that way.

Tybbe was hurt, but his painkillers made him forget that. Then he went all out and of course that wasn't the best thing to do. He didn't learn his lesson from that either.

Yes, that's what I and school thought

I thought you were going to teach a gifted class. I always loved mine. It was more directed-learning, and when we were younger it encouraged more creativity. You know, give students a general topic and have them do something with it (we got to choose what we did). The class was always much smaller too, so that was nice. There were eight of us in my grade.

So some of you are runners? I run 10K to 8mi every morning with wind sprints on Sunday. My last marathon was last November

The Green Dragon would be for a forum for Hobbits. We're Ents here. That's why there are 2-year breaks between our posts.

We don't talk about anything that isn't worth taking a long time to talk about.

Ah, I see. Yes, they can't tell it's the painkiller that makes them feel great for a moment and don't understand why they're miserable again shortly after. Poor kittie.

Well, it's like the Green Dragon, as in we've got all the food and drinks you'd want and plenty of people to talk to about pretty much very thing. We're just -hoom- a little slower, generally.
